Bailey Sherman and the color PINK

The color Pink can be described as thus: Vibrant, Delicate, Charming, Sweet, Friendly, and brings a sense of warmth. Olivet’s very own, Bailey Sherman could be described the exact same. And it just so happens, Pink is her favorite color.

“I think Pink is the superior color, and people ALWAYS matter.”

Bailey is currently a junior at Olivet Nazarene University studying Multimedia Communications with a concentration in Radio/Record Industry and strives to pursue connecting with people in all that she does. She works at SHINE.FM, a local christian radio station, as an early evening host and is apart of their events team.

Bailey was very active in high school. Her passions included cheerleading, being apart of a school musical, competitive solo acting, FCA, FFA, and LEO club. And maybe a little lifeguarding and swim instructing on the side.

Nevertheless, each of those activities didn’t help her decide what she wanted to do as a career until enrolling to college in the fall of 2017. Growing up, she considered being a nun, professional public speaker, agriculture teacher, radio DJ, missionary, and, most importantly, a mother. To find a way to tie all of her gifts together she now pursues the art that is, Radio Broadcasting.

Since being at Olivet, Bailey has invested a lot of time and heart into Spoons4Forks, an improv team on campus.

Isaac Lee, a soon to be graduating senior and member of the group described Bailey as, “Very easy to talk to and someone who radiates Christs light to her friends.” Lee also made it a point to express what a privilege it is to know her.

One common denominator in each of her gifts, passions, and extracurriculars are people. And if theres one thing you NEED to know about Bailey, it’s her love and passion for people.

“My passion is people. It doesn’t matter if it’s helping someone, listening to their stories, laughing with them, or making them laugh.”

Someday, she hopes to become an on-air personality and host a podcast that addresses social issues in the world that typically go unadressed.

Since starting college, Bailey feels that shes been able to examine the world with a new lens. She has been able to see the hurt, pain, and injustice in the people around her, which inspires her to do what she can do to right those wrongs.

The perspective helped her to “grow up” as Bailey explained it, and allowed her heart to be softened for the things that God cares for.

With all of these gifts, Bailey radiates a positive and vibrant light in all she does in her relationships with the people around her.
