Some might assume the Office of Student Employment gives students on-campus jobs. It does not do that, but it does connect students with the resources to find an on-campus job.
According to its website, the Office of Student Employment helps employ over 1,000 students every year. Students are given this resource as early as their freshman year. Most of the campus positions that they offer require a minimum of 6–10 hours a week. However, they do advise students who are carrying a full course load to limit their hours.
The Office of Student Employment offers help and support to anyone looking for a job. Its website includes a list of instructions for students considering an on-campus job.
“When a student is hired, he/she must present his/her original U.S. Passport, Social Security card or birth certificate… The student employee must present one of these essential documents in addition to a photo I.D. or he/she will not be hired.”

Keri Langan, the Director of Student Employment, says that the Office of Student Employment “serves the department as the initial and primary contact for student employment. [They] assist students in applying for and acquiring on-campus jobs.”
Student Employment does more than just introduce students to job opportunities on campus. They process employment paperwork, approve daily payroll spreadsheets, manage content for the student employment Facebook page, communicate with new employees, among other things.

One of the benefits of an on-campus job, is that it will work around the student’s class schedule. It also allows the student to get a job in a field that they might want to pursue after they graduate. Contrary to popular belief, the Office of Student Employment only handles on-campus jobs, not off-campus jobs. The Office of Career Development handles off-campus jobs. However, the experience a student can gain at an on-campus job could be the thing that sets them apart from the rest after they graduate.
