Carson Schimmelpfennig: Prime-Time Debut

From a young age, Carson always found a way to serve people around her. From helping her mom clean the house when she was little, to serving on many different teams at her college university, Carson’s servant’s heart is evident in any project she accomplishes.

Prime-Time Passion:

Carson’s servant mentality comes from her passion of wanting to get to know people and hear their stories. One group in particular that she loves getting to know are elders. A.K.A. what she calls her “Prime-Timers.”

This passion came to fruition when she got a job at the Alumni Center on Olivet Nazarene University’s (ONU) campus. At this job she was able to work directly with prime timers by helping plan events for them and even taking them on a prime-time trip.

My prime-timers are my favorite group of people I get to work with.

One of the reasons Carson loves working with prime timers is because they love pouring into students. They consistently ask questions about Carson’s life and love to keep in touch with her. Every time Carson has had the opportunity to serve her prime-timers she has had a pleasant experience.

Carson continued pursing her passion with prime-timers over the summer when she got to intern with Vi Living. During this internship she was able to see the ins and outs of the senior care living industry. Her dream job is to one day be a director of residential life for a senior care company.

A Passion for Public Relations

While Carson loves working with her prime-timers, she also has a passion for pursuing the industry of public relations (PR) as well. One of the main aspects she loves about PR is the opportunity to serve, network and build relationships between companies and publics.

Public relations is about serving your public. I always knew I wanted a career that I could serve people in.

Serving people in PR is evident in Carson’s student career at ONU. Carson serves on the Public Relations Student Society of America board as the Vice President of Member Services. She also serves as an account executive for Inspired Strategies Agency which is a student led communication agency at ONU.

We were surprised when Carson said she wanted to go into PR, but knowing how well she serves people I know she will be successful in her career choice.

Lover of Nature

In her free time, Carson loves to be outdoors. From the time she can remember, every summer Carson and her family go up to their lake house located in Cedar Lake, Indiana. These fun trips consisted of boating, reading and napping. This is one of Carson’s favorite places to travel because of the peaceful and laid-back atmosphere.

Some of my best memories growing up were made at my lake house every year.

Spending quality time with her family is something Carson puts a high value on. The lake house is one of the places where her family can make fun memories without having any stressful distractions. Carson is very thankful her family is still able to make these trips to the lake house every year.

Making lake house memories with my family is something I wouldn’t trade for the world!
