ONU Student Breaks Out of Dixon, IL

Jadyn Erb of Dixon Illinois, home to a federal medium security prison, was taught how to lead at a young age after helping her parents wrangle  her 5 younger siblings of 3 sisters and 2 brothers.

Jadyn is very proud of her family and states that she and her youngest brother are the only two in the family with blonde hair and everyone else has brown hair

At a mere five years old, Jadyn took up bowling which she played all thru high school. At that time, Jadyn put down the bowling ball and picked up the pen. Erb wanted to be a writer for films. Maybe Erb will follow in the footsteps of another famous Dixon Illinois resident and will make a name for herself in movies or maybe even become the President of the United States like a past Dixon resident, the 40^th President of the United States, Ronald Reagan.

Let’s get back to Jadyn. Jadyn, when asked about how she came to enroll at Olivet Nazarene University, Jadyn stated that she came  to Olivet by getting stuff about it in the mail. Jadyn stated that her old youth group and her husband went here and met here (but didn’t really like it). Jadyn added that her cousin actually went here. Jadyn, being the inquisitive one, also did a lot of research during her senior year of high school and found Olivet and  was interested in their film concentration. Jadyn applied and low and behold, she got in. Jadyn came to ONU for a campus tour shortly before she started in the fall of 2017. Jadyn stated:

“I knew  from the exact moment I stepped out of the car and onto the sidewalk in front of the Admissions building, that Olivet Nazarene University was where God wanted me to be.”

Jadyn, a film studies major with a minor in creative writing is no stranger to hard work but was bit shell shocked when she realized how much work was expected of her each semester. Each semester, Jadyn added, was a new beginning with new professors. The deadlines for assignments always seem to be one right after the other.

Jadyn took this as a personal challenge and committed herself to not let the stress of getting everything done get to her too much. Jadyn listens to Christina pop music. Although she likes mainstream pop and country music as well, her fall back standard is Christian pop music.

Remember earlier, Jadyn told us she likes to write? Well, the writing bug surfaced this year by becoming a designer for the Aurora yearbook which is a book put together by the students every year at Olivet Nazarene University chronicling the past academic year.

Jadyn is very respectful and cognizant of the Christ centered atmosphere and it has helped her immensely with her  faith. Jadyn has also has kept centered in what she believes in.

After graduation Jadyn wants to edit movies for the rest of her life but us aware, that it will be a long road to finally land that awesome job that she loves.  You never know, Jadyn’s minor in creative writing just might have her writing a script for a film that she can edit!

Jadyn Erb. is emerging from the shadows of the Fedral Penitentiary in Dixon and one day, just maybe, she can have a statue erected of her in Dixon just like President Ronald Reagan.
