Whether you know him or not, learning about Adam Lee will provide insight not only on him, but also on how unique every Olivet student is as well. In other words, Adam has his own story, and his unique story can teach us that the rest of the Olivet student population has their own story as well. Overall, there are many traits, hobbies, interests, and goals that make Adam stand out.
Adam’s hometown resides in Saint Bernice, Ind., a town just two-and-a-half hours south of Olivet. He is currently in his Junior year here at Olivet, and he is very much actively involved in the school.
Having played band in high school, he decided to take his talents to Olivet, where he plays the trombone in the school’s symphonic, marching, and jazz bands. On top of that, he has worked with the Admissions and Recruitment team for two-and-a-half years.
“It’s great being that first point of contact for students and telling them how great of a school Olivet is,” Lee said.
On top of his involvements on campus, Adam keeps himself busy with a variety of hobbies. He enjoys watching movies, reading, making music, and woodburning. Recently, he has been teaching himself to play the piano, and woodburning is the newest of his hobbies. He especially enjoys making wood burnings of movie posters. In fact, he often takes suggestions from other people when deciding his next project.
Staying on the topic of movies, film and storytelling as a whole is something that makes up much of Adam’s interests and what he wants to do with his life. Adam’s major is multimedia communication with a film studies concentration.
“Film and storytelling have always been a part of my life, so it only makes sense that I have pursued that in my college career,” he said.
However, Adam does not want his passion for film and storytelling to stop at the college level. He is an aspiring filmmaker who hopes to take his skills to the professional level. Even in college, he is currently writing scripts, including feature-length ones, that he hopes make it on the big screen one day. He certainly is off to a great start.
His passion and drive to become a filmmaker is surpassed only by his faith, which he hopes to incorporate in his eventual work.
“I think the secular world of film could stand to have a lot more Christian influence,” Lee said, “and I hope to do my part for that in my filmmaking.”
When asked to describe himself with one word, Adam chose the word ‘interesting’. He specifically stated, “I would like to think I genuinely am an interesting person with a wide variety of interests and qualities.”
He keeps himself busy in many ways, he enjoys a wide variety of different things, and he is very determined. Again, his story is an example of all the different things that can go on in an Olivet student’s life, and perhaps his story can make us feel inclined to learn more about our other classmates as well!
