Kaylee Palacio

A Life of Creativity & Charisma

Origin of Ingenuity

Creative, cheerful, cordial. These are the three C’s that best describe Kaylee Palacio. Growing up in the Bourbonnais area with a very extroverted family helped Kaylee establish a charismatic and creative intuition at a very young age. Kaylee first got into art in 5th grade at a fine arts magnet and has been painting ever since. Illustrative art is only one aspect of her creative career, however. Kaylee also began playing the viola in 5th grade and has been doing it for nearly a decade since. She is also a member of ONU’s orchestra so make sure to keep a look out for her the next time you go to a concert on campus.

A Bit More About Kaylee

Kaylee is affable at heart. She loves hanging with friends and has an extremely flexible personality. She has worked in food services for a substantial period of time. Kaylee’s prior job was a 5-year-long position at a local family restaurant where she moved through nearly every level of management. Her personal favorite type of food is Mexican by a long shot, with tacos ranking in at number one. Kaylee has a wide range of tolerance when it comes to media as well. One day she may be listening to country music while the next she is fixated on trap. She also loves a wide variety of TV shows and movies ranging from The Office to Harry Potter. Her favorite way to watch TV is by cuddling with her two dogs at home.

Her willingness to help a friend out, her ability to communicate, and her ability to light up a room are her best qualities.

Offhand Outward to Career Competence

Kaylee has always been an outgoing person that never blunders an opportunity to help others. Her go-getter attitude has always been a focal driver in both her personal and academic life. Towards the end of Kaylee’s high school career, she made up her mind that social work would be a suitable degree to match her extrovertive qualifications. She was initially attracted to this department due to her desire to help people, seeing as a nurse position was a bit too distasteful for her ideal future. Kaylee would later find God’s guidance pointing her in a completely different direction.

Olivet Bound

Being that she was raised in Kankakee County, Kaylee was initially opposed to attending Olivet. She desired liberation from her hometown but reconsidered the quandary after visiting campus and being offered favorable scholarship opportunities. Once here, Kaylee fell in love with Olivet and became heavily involved with several social clubs and internships. One such internship at Miller Media introduced her to the radio business. What started off as a simple interest in radio would continue to grow after going on a mission’s trip to Ecuador with Professor Brian Utter. After extensive consideration, Kaylee opted to change majors- A decision that would change her life as she knew it.

Kaylee had several reasons to reconsider her college decision. She is very glad she did!

Staying Tuned In

Radio is Kaylee’s passion. She has been a regular student worker at Spark HD for the past two years and can be heard on air Monday through Friday from 12pm to 3pm or on Sunday night from 6pm-midnight. Kaylee loves to do voiceover work and brighten up everyone’s day with her elated enthusiasm. She strives to perfect her people skills by becoming a highly relatable icon on air.

What’s Next Then?

After Olivet, Kaylee hopes to find a career in- you guessed it- radio work. She would ideally like to work on syndicate or radio shows but would also consider careers in podcasting and voice acting.  The last thing that Kaylee wants to do is work a standard 9-5 job behind a desk. She wants to utilize her spiritual gifts on air with considerable usage of charisma and creativity.
