Natalie Richardson: Where Great Artists Come From

Great artists always seem to come from small towns or small universities. They are sometimes not expected to become great successful artists. That’s something that makes these artists great. No matter what hardships they may face, they work hard no matter what. What drives that work ethic is their oasis on and their sense of purpose. Natalie Richardson is an artist who may become great some day. She is a student majoring in multimedia communication with a film studies concentration and she is already accomplishing so much.

Richardson originally came to Olivet Nazarene University major in zoology. As she was taking her required classes for her major, it didn’t feel quite right. She felt as if she should be doing more. Thankfully, she discovered the communication department and film studies. She realized she had been holding back her love for the art because of fearing what her family might think. Richardson of course asked for guidance by praying and found her calling to film and theatre. She’s thankful for her decision in making this change and she is especially thankful for the communication department. Her favorite thing about the department “is how friendly the professors are. They truly care about their students and their success.”

As Richardson is working hard in getting her degree, she is working for the Olivet basketball team as their social media manager. She has learned a lot from this job and is continuing to learn and build her skills. Her dream job through is to create films that make it to theaters.

“I cannot express enough how much that drives me in this field. That is the goal, but I am so excited for the journey that it will be to get there and all the new creative people I will meet on the way.”

Richardson also has a great love and pass for theatre as well. She finds a lot of excitement from it and has a creative passion for the stage.

“From the rush of being onstage to the connections you make not only with the actors and the crew but also with the characters you are playing and the story you are telling. I also learn new things about myself every time I do a production and that is something I absolutely love about it.”

Richardson is clearly an extremely creative and passionate person. She has big hopes and dreams for herself after graduating and hopes to make an impact in the film industry. She wants to create to inspire, especially for children. “I want to tell stories that inspire people and inspire children out there to follow their dreams.” To be successful, Natalie believes that is gaining good friends and a support system for herself. “If I can make new friends and create a support system for myself and the people in my field, I would call that success.” I believe a great artist comes from drive and passion. Natalie Richardson is one artist who will become great someday.
