Chapel services are a staple of Olivet life as an undergraduate student. Thousands of students gather together in Hawkins Centennial Chapel every week to hear inspiring, motivating, or challenging messages from influential speakers from around the world, but chapel services didn’t look or feel the way they do now. Before Centennial Chapel, there was Chalfant Hall. Students went there for their chapel services, but not everyone could attend synchronously. To solve this issue, the Olivet administration undertook the initiative to erect a new chapel. Here is how chapel made its transition from Chalfant Hall to Hawkins Centennial Chapel.
