Olivet Nazarene University’s Communication Department offers a “special topics” course each semester with the prefix of COMM-399.
This year, the course for Spring 2023 focused on sports broadcasting, taught by Professor Brian Utter. Utter has years of experience and is the station General Manager at Shine.fm. Besides his radio experience, he is knowledgeable about the rapid changes in communication today and its impacts internationally and has connections in the industry.
Kyle Petersen is a student in the class and said it has taken his love of sports and videography to the next level. Petersen saw the importance of videography, audio, and preparation. He “sharped his skills” through this course and learned.
Since his freshmen year Michael has been equipped and prepared for what’s to come. The future looks bright for Michael thanks to his strong communication course foundation.
