Get to Know Macey Wade

Macey’s College Life so Far

As graduation approaches, Macey Wade, a senior majoring in public relations and corporate communications at Olivet Nazarene University (ONU), is focused on building her portfolio and launching her career in public relations. After spending her undergraduate years in the university’s theater program and public relations initiatives, she is eager to apply her skills professionally.

“I want to make sure I don’t lose momentum after school, but I also want to take some time to be with my family,” Wade said. She remains confident in her path, adding, “I know that God has a plan for me, and He will reveal it in His perfect timing.”

Her Music Involvement

One of the defining aspects of Wade’s college experience has been her involvement in theater and choir.

As a dedicated member of the Orpheus Choir, she has cherished the opportunity to perform choral Christian music alongside her peers. The choir meets multiple times a week, allowing her to share her vocal talents and find joy in making music under the direction of Dr. Jeff Bell. Additionally, she has taken private voice lessons with him, strengthening her technical skills and deepening her love for singing.

Wade’s roommate, Hannah Rose, has been a firsthand witness to her passion for public relations and the arts.

“Macey is one of the most driven and creative people I know. She pours her heart into everything she does, whether it’s planning PR campaigns or rehearsing for a show. She always finds a way to balance everything with such grace,” said Rose.

Rose also highlighted Wade’s ability to bring people together.

“She has this way of making everyone feel included,” she said. “Whether she’s working on a backstage at a show or anything else, she makes sure everyone feels valued. That’s just who she is.”

Passion for the Stage

Macey discusses her experience in Tuck Everlasting as an ensemble member in this past February’s show.

Wade has also been an active member of ONU’s theater program, participating in five productions throughout her college career. Most recently, she performed in Tuck Everlasting, her final show with the university. Though she didn’t play a named role, she found immense joy in being part of the ensemble.

“It’s one of my favorite things to do, Being in an ensemble lets you create your own character and enjoy the experience with the whole cast. The big dance numbers and time spent with people who love theater as much as I do make it all worth it.”

Passion for Public Relations

Beyond the stage, Wade has been deeply involved in public relations, gaining hands-on experience through various student organizations. She spent three semesters working with Inspired Strategies Agency, a student-run PR firm that provides pro bono work for real clients.

“Public relations is very hands-on. Sometimes, just being in a classroom isn’t enough, so working with real clients has been an incredible learning opportunity,” she said.

Her leadership skills shine as the vice president of the Public Relations Student Society of America, where she has played a key role in revitalizing the organization after a period of transition. She is excited to see what opportunities the club can provide for public relations students as they prepare for their careers.
