Intro to Christensen

Christensen studied Multimedia Communication at Olivet and graduated in spring of 2025. She was a part of the swim and dive team and because of COVID-19 and a year she was injured she can swim at Milligan University for two redshirt years.

What she’s up to now

Christensen currently works as the General Manager for the Sports Information Department at her school, so she is able to actively apply her multimedia skills. She makes videos for different sports teams at Milligan to practice and market herself to future employers.

“They have me doing all the media stuff and game recaps,” Christensen said.

Over the summer, Christensen had a video production internship with the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters baseball team, where she ran social media and directed the broadcast for home games.

“I would sit up in the press box telling the camera people what to do,” Christensen said.

“I have been in sports for most of my life and I really like being apart of them, but I never wanted to coach.”

Christensen was inspired by others who did both media and sports-related tasks and she has been in sports for most of her life, “but never wanted to coach.” She enjoyed the creative aspects of sports media and producing videos for teams.

Past work

“It’s quite a bit of work,” Christensen said regarding how busy her schedule is compared to before.

She juggles being a NAIA athlete, graduate school, and her GA job. Christensen explains that it is tricky to balance, but her advice was to take it week by week and focus on what needs the most attention. Christensen shared that previously studying at Olivet helped her organize different things and break up projects to better manage.

“I like being part of that universe and being creative with it.”

Christensen has been able to experiment further with different editing tools and videos; she says that graduating from Olivet as a Multimedia student has really helped her find what her style is.

Current work

“There has been a lot of researching we did in the COMM classes that has helped me quite a bit,” Christensen said.

Even the basic stuff, like lighting and other equipment, helped Christensen have a bit more knowledge, preparing her for the different skills to use.

Christensen’s plan is to get a job related to videography and photography in a sports-related field. She is waiting to see what opens for her.
