Building a Brand Voice

The NFL Players Association (NFLPA) has developed a professional brand voice over the years, as they have developed as an organization. Throughout both their social media and press releases, the NFLPA has maintained a tone that is not only professional but also one that embodies their mission of helping NFL players and their families. 

The whole purpose of the NFLPA is to showcase the players around the league, so the messaging and social media posts are very player centric. A lot of the information is based around the players, but can be of interest to a normal fan as well. Because the leadership positions within NFLPA are made up of former players, they use language and quotes from players to enhance their credibility.

The organization typically focuses on individual accomplishments, policy or rule changes, events and updates within the organization. The NFLPA focuses their language to be informational, which helps shape the opinion of both the media and their fan audience. 

They often use language on their social media and within their press releases to signify the organization’s work to unify, empower and advocate for players. They use these specific phrases within their posts to showcase those feelings:

The happenings around the league, as well as the accomplishments made by the players, should be recognized and celebrated, and the NFLPA successfully uses messaging to do just that. They create pride throughout their content, while also keeping it visually appealing and easy for the average viewer to read also. The logo is always located somewhere on their posts, keeping it official and professional. The messaging across platforms remains factual, and is often consistent across platforms and reinforces the organization’s loyalty to its members.
