A past transfer student from Malden, IL dreams to produce genuinely funny movies in the future. Elizabeth Griffin is a senior at Olivet Nazarene University who wants to do exactly that.
Elizabeth Griffin is a Multimedia Communications major with a concentration in film studies with no minor. Her favorite movies to watch are 10 Things I Hate About You, The Princess Bride, and the movie Old Fashioned which is a love story from Pure Flix Productions. While she does not know exactly yet what she wants to do after graduation; she does know she wants to work on movie sets. “In the beginning, I was thinking of being a director, but I think I want to move into more of pre-production of movies or TV shows,” Griffin stated. Griffin’s dream job is to be a movie producer making funny movies for all ages.
Before coming to Olivet, Elizabeth had lived in three different states before living in Illinois such as Florida, Georgia, and Virginia. Her favorite animals are sea otters not river otters though. She loves carrots and they are her favorite vegetable. When she was younger, Elizabeth would read the dictionary just for fun to find new fun and interesting words or sometimes just the fun of reading the dictionary.
Elizabeth recently came to Olivet in the fall of 2018 when she came in as a transfer student from Illinois Valley Community College. When originally applying for college, Elizabeth wanted to be an elementary teacher but changed her mind to film. What drew her to come to ONU after getting her associate degree was the incorporated Christ environment in classes and around campus as well. “What drew me to Olivet was that everything incorporated Christ. Professors do prayers and devotions before class and there’s even chapel, ” said Griffin. During her time at Olivet so far, Elizabeth has acquired a couple of jobs to help her throughout the year such as working in circulation at Benner Library and being a Teacher’s Assistant (TA) for Nonlinear Editing.
Some of Elizabeth’s favorite things to do when not doing homework or working at the library are singing, learning, kind of playing the ukulele by watching YouTube video. She is also part of intramural by being part of a badminton team named “Breaking Badminton” named after the hit 2008 TV show, Breaking Bad. She also likes to hang out and chill with her roommates at her apartment. Bethany Anderson, a junior at Olivet and one of Elizabeth’s three roommates, said ” One of my favorite endeavors this year was going to see the Tenth Avenue North concert because we were able to let loose and dance it out together.”
Elizabeth Griffin has accomplished so much at Olivet in just only a couple of years and hopefully that hard work and determination shown at Olivet will follow her and help her after graduation. Hopefully she will become the best ukulele playing movie producer in Hollywood or anywhere that she goes that we know her to be here at Olivet Nazarene University.
