Looking into his friendly face, you can immediately see his confidence in himself. It’s not arrogant but rightly placed. Josh Bergia has an easy and quick smile and open demeanor. He’s happy to chat and make friends.
Tech Whiz
Bergia’s love for technology started when he was young. He would take apart and build computers. He taught himself about their inner workings and eventually was able to help others with basic fixes with their computer and photos. He never charged them but would provide his services for free. When he became a freshman in high school, he started showing interest in video production. It started simple; he would film church services or school plays. He even dabbled in audio. As he continued, he was surprised to find he had a knack for it.
Now, as a junior in college, he has created more complex pieces. He has worked for churches and nonprofits in creating promotional materials for fundraisers. He even recently created a short horror film. He really enjoyed creating it and had a lot of fun. His bigger project recently, however, was a wedding video. This was a challenge as he had no experience doing this. He had never shadowed anyone, but he decided to give it his all. He researched and rented the best equipment, Black Magic cameras.
He commented that these are normally used for cinematography, so the video was hopefully going to look stunning. He was nervous about the unknown, but he really enjoyed himself. In the end, he is proud of it. It was a confident booster showing he knew what he was doing and could make incredible material. As he has gone through the multimedia major, he has thoroughly enjoyed and can see himself doing this for the rest of his life. Bergia loves people, so being able to film them and work with them is the line work he loves to be in.
Friends in the Tech World
Zach Cantwell, a personal friend of Bergia’s, commented, “Josh is dedicated to his craft and his education, and always manages to overpower any complications that arise. I’ve seen him excel in tons of different projects that he’s worked on…he’s poured countless hours of work into his projects, and that is just even more proof he’s dedicated to producing great content.”
Bergia is not only hardworking but a great friend. Cantwell considers Bergia to be a close friend, someone who is always willing to make time to hang out and chat. Cantwell says Bergia is one of the kindest people he knows which is evident when you first meet Josh.
Nature is Calling
Not only is he a technology fanatic, but also a nature lover. These are two are very different hobbies yet Josh loves both. He loves being able to take walks, hike, and bike around in the woods or the forest. When he can, he visits parks. His dream park to visit is Yellowstone National Park someday. Maybe after college, he’ll visit it as a celebratory visit. Not only does he love looking at nature, but he also thought about working with animals. He said if he wasn’t doing now, he would be working with animals. He thought for a while being a marine biologist.
Some of Josh’s favorite activities are playing video games and running. He likes playing whatever games. When he was in high school, he was on track and field. Recently, he is trying to get back into it by running a few miles a few times a week. He feels it releases his stress and finds it nostalgic. To sum up Josh, he gives his all in his passions. He loves the things he loves and works hard to see his dreams fulfilled. In Josh’s words, “I’m just a guy being a dude.” Personally, I think he is more than a dude, he is a great man.
