Rebecca: A Woman of Many Talents and Passions

Meet Rebecca. She thrives in the art department here at Olivet Nazarene University, and as a senior, she is almost on her way out. She is currently studying graphic design, something that interested her during her junior year of high school.

Favorites

One of Rebecca’s favorite things, which is fairly obvious to many, as she is studying it in college…. is art. She likes to experiment with all different sorts of mediums within art, but she leans towards the graphic part of the creative process. A couple of the mediums that Rebecca absolutely despises after having tried many are clay and charcoal. Reasons for not liking those include: being super messy and getting everywhere.

Rebecca also finds joy in other things besides making beautiful art. One of those things is musical theater. Rebecca was a huge theater kid in high school and loved to be a part of her productions, even if it meant just being in the chorus. She wasn’t always interested in it though, “I remember specifically being dragged to my first practice by one of my friends at the time.” Rebecca retired her career in theater after graduating high school but she still enjoys to see the theater productions that are put on in the

Passions

One of the things that Rebecca is most passionate about is her friends. Rebecca is a person that would rather have a small group of friends who are reliable and have each other’s back until the end. Rebecca and her friends are a fierce trio and a force to be reckoned with. Along with her love with theater came a passion for singing, dancing, and acting. A person she looks up to in the professional theater industry is Emmy Rossum who was in The Phantom of the Opera. As a child, Rebecca wanted to sing just like her, “I can hit most of them [notes], but once she hits her last note, an E6, I just can’t most days.” Rebecca finds a lot of joy in singing and dancing. She danced for two years, and wishes she had more time to do it again, but is thankful for the time she had when she did it.

Just for Fun

Something that most people don’t know about Rebecca is that she loves anime. Her favorite show to binge-watch is called Nana… she may or may not have stayed up all night to finish it.

Something that has grown on Rebecca over the years is coffee. She never thought she would have liked coffee, but one day a couple of years ago, her roommate dragged her over to Dunkin’ and tried a blueberry oat milk coffee and never looked back.

Rebecca enjoys what she does and even is trying her hand out in entrepreneurship as she is trying to maintain her own business. “I absolutely love what I do because I’m able to give my art a voice for itself instead of me talking about it.”
