Jordan Konieczny was born in Palatine, Illinois. He spent a majority of his childhood there. Jordan would later move to McHenry, Illinois during middle school, which he would consider his true home. He often felt like his family bounced around a bit from home to home in his childhood. During middle school, his family lived in an apartment, where Konieczny had to live with his older brother in the same room. At this point in his life, Konieczny lived very close to the Wisconsin border, so much so there was a common joke about being able to smell the cheese.

Jordan heard of Olivet from a zoologist who came to speak at his school, and from that thought Olivet seemed cool if it had animals. When he learned more about it though, he figured out how much of Olivet was faith-oriented and Jordan desired to come to Olivet to build a foundation of faith. His first reaction when he walked into Olivet was “Man there’s a curfew? I thought I was an adult.” Of course, he understood why it might be necessary with how rowdy Chapman can get, and after a while, he realized the purpose of mandatory chapel and curfew.

He is majoring in Multimedia Communication with a concentration in TV/Video Production, and just got an internship at a YMCA. Konieczny likes to make short highlight reels at the moment, not really long-length films, so he’s thinking something similar to advertisements for his future might be up his alley.

The community at Olivet is something Konieczny values highly, he’s thankful to be able to build bonds with fellow students and teachers who all strengthen and help each other. It is one of the critical parts of Olivet to him and it’s what makes this place special.

Konieczny has been doing some freelance photography lately, improving his skills in that field. His interest in photography pairs well with his major and gives him an opportunity to practice his photography skills.

Besides doing freelance photography, Konieczny also works at the Gordon Food Service. Outside school, he can usually be found watching TikToks or playing video games with his friends. He highly enjoys social games where he can play online with friends.

Memorable Moments

In high school Konieczny deadlifted weights, and one day with the hype and encouragement of many people around him he was able to deadlift 450 lbs, and really enjoyed the accomplishment.
A moment he is fond of from Olivet was an enjoyable basic video class, where he just had three students with him. Konieczny enjoyed going out and filming at location and once again building good bonds with his peers.

Much of Konieczny’s time is spent in the communication building, editing for classes, doing homework and other things dealing with media.
