Daring to Dream with Drew

Meet Drew!

From communications to composition, Drew never fails to bring his dreams and creative ideas to life. Growing up in a family founded on creative freedom, Drew has always been encouraged to tap into his passions for creating and composing to bring himself and those around him so much joy.

The Tale Before The Tigers

Being in a musical family, it is no surprise that Drew found himself content with playing and composing music. Like his mom, he grew to have a fondness for sitting down at the piano and crafting melodies, and it is something he continues to this very day. In fact, the video to your right is a piece he has just recently composed here on Olivet’s campus.

His pursuit of creative outlets did not end with music composition, however. Turns out, his heart had a soft spot for digital creativity, too.

Drew found himself becoming increasingly more interested in videography and multimedia, which ultimately led him to joining a film club in high school.
“It was honestly some of the most fun I have ever had in a club,” he said. “It was just fun to gather with people and come up with something super creative.”

It was through his experience in this club that he discovered both his talent for multimedia and this path that he was going to pursue in college.

Too many enticing benefits to pass up! Drew tells us what exactly it was that brought him to Olivet.

On to Olivet!

Drew walked onto Olivet Nazarene University’s campus ready to get his hands on any opportunities that would allow him to get his creative juices flowing. Coming in as a multimedia communication major, with a concentration in film studies and minoring in business, Drew was on track to find endless avenues to channel his innovation and wild imagination.

Though he walked in feeling rather introverted and shy, it was not long until Drew was able to step out of his comfort zone and take hold of an opportunity that, to this day, he does not regret.

Along with his studies and extra curriculars, Drew has had the honor of working with the McGraw School of Business, producing video and other digital content for their social media pages. In fact, he has been able to turn this into an actual on-campus job.

His boss, Professor Chris Perez, has nothing but wonderful things to say about his experience with Drew these past few years. Perez notes Drew’s growth both personally and professionally, saying, “His confidence has grown tremendously, but also professionally – his work continues to level up”. Perez goes on to say, “I have seen the work that he has started with and even to today, a few years later. There has been a dramatic difference in the quality of work he has produced.”

Drew has truly valued his experience with this position so far, saying, “it’s been really good experience…because of this job, I have gotten so much better – I’ve learned how to make footage on a camera look good, I have gotten a lot more practice with editing, and it has really been good for me.

Future focused…

So where is Drew off to now? He is currently finishing one of busiest years of college and moving on to his most transformative year, his senior year.

When asked where Drew wants to take his skills and knowledge of multimedia, he says he could see himself working for a company in their marketing department, doing something similar to what he does for the McGraw School of Business.

Knowing how creative, hard-working, and passionate Drew is, there is no doubt that he is going to conquer anything he put his mind to.

Wishing you the best of luck, Drew!
