Reyna is going to be graduating college from Olivet Nazarene University in a few semesters. After graduation she is going to have to make a tough decision in the career path she wants to take in life. Before we get into those career paths here is her backstory.
Reyna is from Belvidere ,Illinois which is a smaller town. When referring to her town she says that it’s not far from Rockford because more people know about Rockford than Belvidere. Reyna has two older half-siblings, a brother and a sister that are ten years apart from her. At home, Reyna has two dogs and a bird that she cares for very much.
When she was younger and in high school she was quite the athlete. From fifth grade to her senior year in high school she played competitive softball. Even though she dosen’t play softball anymore she still loves the game and loves to pass down her knowledge to the younger players. She does this by coaching an eleven and twelve-year-old softball team in her hometown.
In high school she attended Our Lady of The Sacred heart from freshmen year until junior year. For her senior year she transferred to Belvidere North high school. The first high school she went to was extremely small and only had twelve students in it. Her second high school was a public school and was much bigger. Reyna said that the change of high schools was different but she was able to adapt to it easily.
Once she got into Olivet she knew that her major was going to be in Multimedia with a concentration in TV/Video. Now during her life at Olivet she’s been doing a lot of things outside of school to keep herself active and to try new things. Since she’s been at Olivet she’s been taking Karate lessons to stay active and better her self-defense. Also when it is nice out she loves being outside and going for runs.
Reyna said that her two favorite seasons are spring and summer and she hates the cold with a passion. Another thing she loves to do outside of school is to edit videos and screen write. Since Reyna was sixteen years old she has been training herself for the workforce to get a feel for it. She worked for Subway and a local restaurant called Wild Cherry.
Susan Shin, Junior – Reyna’s Roommate
“Reyna is a Junior in college. She takes karate very seriously. She has two dogs, and a very strong relationship with her Grandma. She is very close with her dad, she talks on the phone with him almost everyday because he calls her. She edits videos all the time and loves to listen to 80’s music.”

Reyna knows that she wants to stay local after she graduates but she is unsure if she is going to choose a career in local news or multimedia marketing. The one thing she is sure of is that no matter what she chooses as long as videography is involved she knows she’ll love it.
When making this decision she is putting a lot of things in perspective. For example, her major is in Multimedia which would be very helpful in getting a job in multimedia marketing. Also, her major with the concentration she has would look very good in a career path in local news. With those things in perspective, she said that when the time come she is going to make the decision with whatever she is feeling more passionate about as her life grows.
