Carli Dillman was sitting outside in Bloomington, Illinois with her mom on a hot summer day when they started discussing where she should go to school in the fall. Dillman’s mother suggested she looked at smaller schools closer to home, so she looked at Olivet Nazarene University. Once Dillman showed up on campus, she fell in love. The people were perfect and so were the professors she had met and the dorm she would be living in. Her impromptu visit was nothing short of an answered prayer. She had no idea that the Lord was working through her visit to campus.
Hobbies
Dillman is on the Olivet Nazarene University (ONU) cheerleading team. She tried out for the squad for the first-time last spring. Since being on the team Dillman has been taught discipline, teamwork, determination, and endurance. Dillman’s sister, Jill Dillman said, “She always loved cheer when she was a kid.”

Dillman has previously been on the pom’s team in junior high and a flags team in high school, but 2022 was the first year she had done cheerleading. So far, Dillman loves learning new techniques and cherishes the bonds she has made with the girls. She has realized that she has made some lifelong friends. She cannot wait to continue doing cheer for the rest of her years on campus. She is hoping to be cheer captain during her senior year.
Accomplishments
Dillman has excelled in school this last semester making the Dean’s List for the 2022 school year. She works hard to keep her grades up, hoping to one day be as successful in the workforce. Dillman is currently studying Public Relations and Multimedia Communication at ONU. She is involved in Inspired Strategies Agency through ONU.
Dillman constantly continues to build connections with companies in the Bourbonnais community. Dillman said, “I am glad to establish these connections as early as possible.” She loves the opportunity to connect with the community. Dillman is learning lots about catering to her customers.
Jobs
Dillman currently works at Maurice’s in Bradley, Illinois. She usually works around 15-20 hours a week. If you catch her in action at the chic boutique, you might see her working the cash register or helping customers pick out the best outfit in the fitting rooms. She enjoys working with Maurice’s team as they encourage each other to sell super cute styles and to build each other up in confidence when speaking to customers. She loves it when customers come in and give her free rein.
“I found my favorite skirt at work and just had to hide it,” Dillman said. “I wanted to hide it so that no one can buy it except me.”
Dillman loves giving the customers, her opinion on what they would look best in. She loves getting to show her personality and helping customers step out of their shells.
Closing
Overall, Dillman enjoys her home away from home in Bourbonnais, Illinois. She appreciates all her friendships made through school and around the community. Dillman is grateful for a super fun college experience along with a supportive family back at home. She can’t wait to see what the future holds.
Although she loves living in Bourbonnais temporarily, she does not think she will be living here for a long time. She could not imagine going to a big school for college. Dillman said, “I hope that I can take my memories and friends and hold onto them forever.” She loves Olivet Nazarene and the wonderful community that is constantly pouring into her. She is constantly thanking Jesus for pushing her into attending Olivet Nazarene.
